Quality Breeding Practices
Sand Mountain Maine Coon is a small, family-run cattery dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized Maine Coons with loving, confident temperaments.
Our kittens are raised in our home and are handled daily by children from the very beginning. Growing up around family life helps our kittens develop strong social skills and allows them to adapt easily and confidently into new homes.
We are committed to ethical breeding and health-focused practices. All of our breeding cats are routinely tested for HCM through echocardiograms, along with other recommended genetic screenings. We intentionally raise a limited number of litters so each kitten receives individual attention, proper socialization, and lifelong breeder support.
Loving Environment
At Sand Mountain Maine Coons, we prioritize the health and well-being of our cats. Our breeding practices are designed to ensure that each kitten is raised in a loving and nurturing environment. Our children are involved from day one (or even before day one!)
Health Testing
We conduct thorough health testing on all our breeding cats to ensure they are free from genetic diseases. All our kittens are examined by our trusted and qualified veterinarian before going to new homes. This commitment to health sets the foundation for our kittens' long, happy lives.

Meet Lindsay
Hi, I’m Lindsay — the breeder behind Sand Mountain Maine Coon.
I am a nurse, a mother, a military wife, and a graduate student working toward my Nurse Practitioner degree. I grew up on a farm in Illinois surrounded by goats, chickens, ducks, geese, and cats, and I’ve had a love for animals and nurturing from a very young age.
Breeding Maine Coons allows me to combine my lifelong passion for animals with my role as a mother. Our cats and kittens are raised in our home alongside my children, where they are handled daily and exposed to family life from the very beginning. This hands-on environment helps our kittens grow into confident, affectionate companions who transition easily into new homes.
Beyond raising kittens, breeding has become a meaningful way to spend quality time with my children while teaching them responsibility, maturity, resilience, and compassion. Together, we enjoy showing our cats, raising kittens, and creating core memories as a family — all while bringing joy to the families who welcome our kittens into their homes.
My goal is not just to raise beautiful, healthy Maine Coons, but to raise them with intention, love, and care — and to remain a lifelong resource for the families who choose Sand Mountain Maine Coon.
Meet the second in charge
Meet the little lady who truly helps make our kittens so special. She shares my love of cats and is knowledgeable far beyond her years.
She actively researches the breed and proudly participates in the TICA Junior Ring, showing cats with confidence, skill, and genuine joy. Her involvement goes far beyond the show ring — she is hands-on from day one, helping with daily care, early socialization, and even assisting in the birth of an entire litter herself.
Her dedication, curiosity, and compassion play a big role in the way our kittens are raised, and we are proud to nurture the next generation of ethical cat breeders and enthusiasts right here at Sand Mountain Maine Coon.
