Nestled in the heart of Alabama, Sand Mountain Maine Coons is a small family cattery dedicated to preserving the beauty, health, and loving temperament of the magnificent Maine Coon. We intentionally raise only a few carefully planned litters each year, allowing each kitten to receive the individual attention and socialization they deserve.

Our kittens are raised in our home as part of our family and are surrounded by everyday sights, sounds, and plenty of affection. We are committed to producing healthy, well-adjusted companions with exceptional personalities and stunning type.

Our Philosophy

We believe responsible breeding begins long before kittens are born. Every breeding cat in our program undergoes comprehensive health testing, including genetic screening, echocardiograms to evaluate heart health, and hip evaluations. While no breeder can guarantee a life completely free from illness, we are dedicated to doing everything within our control to provide each kitten with the healthiest possible start.

Above all, we value quality over quantity and strive to thoughtfully match every kitten with the family that will love and cherish them for a lifetime.

The Adoption Journey

1. Kittens Become Available

We do not maintain a waiting list. Instead, kittens are offered for reservation around 8–10 weeks of age, once their personalities begin to emerge and we can better determine the ideal home for each one.

2. Application & Approval

Prospective families complete an application and we take time to get to know you, your lifestyle, and what you are hoping for in a companion. Our priority is finding the best fit for both kitten and family.

3. Reservation

Once approved, a non-refundable $500 deposit secures your kitten and is applied toward the purchase price.

4. Growing & Preparing

Before leaving our home, each kitten receives:

• Veterinary examinations
• Two FVRCP vaccinations
• Routine deworming
• Microchip identification
• Spay or neuter surgery
• 30 days of complimentary pet insurance

5. Homecoming Day

Kittens typically join their new families between 12 and 16 weeks of age, depending on individual development and recovery from surgery. We believe allowing kittens to mature with their mother and littermates helps them become confident, affectionate companions.

Pricing

Pet kittens are $3,000. Breeding rights are rarely offered and are considered only for established catteries whose ethics and breeding goals align with our own.

We stand behind our breeding program and offer a one-year replacement guarantee for life-threatening genetic conditions with veterinary documentation. While we cannot promise perfection, we promise transparency, support, and a lifelong commitment to the kittens we bring into the world.
